Overview
About Cybersecurity & Risk Mitigation
Every organization has a different mix of systems, data and risk, so security cannot be one size fits all. Desmata starts with an assessment of what you run and what you most need to protect. You get a prioritized plan, not a long report.
We work with the frameworks your customers and regulators ask about, including NIST CSF 2.0, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-171 for CMMC, ISO 27001, SOC 2 and the HIPAA Security Rule. We use them to structure the work and to help you prepare. Formal certification and attestation remain with independent assessors.
Then we help you build the controls: identity and access management, endpoint detection, log monitoring and an incident response plan your team has rehearsed. If you also need people to run them, our recruiters place security professionals alongside the project.

What you get
A ranked list of what to fix first
Findings are scored by likelihood and business impact, with an owner and a remediation step for each.
Fewer paths into your systems
Single sign-on, multi-factor authentication and least-privilege access shrink the effect of stolen credentials.
Faster detection and response
Endpoint and log monitoring, with tuned alerts and playbooks, help your team spot and contain incidents sooner.
A clearer path to compliance
Control gaps are mapped to the framework you are working toward, with the evidence an assessor will ask for.

Approach
How an engagement runs
Step 1: Scope and understand
We identify critical assets, data flows, regulations and the frameworks your customers or regulators care about.
Step 2: Assess
We review configurations, access, logging and processes against the chosen framework and test for technical weaknesses.
Step 3: Prioritize
Findings are ranked by risk, with effort estimates, so leadership can fund the right items in the right order.
Step 4: Remediate and harden
We fix or guide the fix of high-risk items, and put identity, monitoring and response controls in place.
Step 5: Monitor and review
Controls are retested as systems and threats change, and the roadmap is updated on a set schedule.

Need the people as well as the plan?
The engineers who design the work and the specialists who join your team come from one firm.
Why Desmata
Why Desmata
Built around what you run
Controls are chosen for your systems, data and regulators, with no standard package to fit into.
Assessment and people in one firm
We can find the gaps, help close them, and recruit the security staff who will keep them closed.
Plain priorities
You receive a short ranked plan with owners and effort, written for IT leaders and executives, not only for auditors.
An MBE certified firm
Desmata is MBE certified, which matters to buyers with supplier diversity programs. It is the only certification we claim.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can Desmata certify us for CMMC, ISO 27001 or SOC 2?
No. Formal assessments are done by independent bodies, such as authorized CMMC assessors, ISO certification bodies and CPA firms for SOC 2. We help you prepare by assessing gaps, building controls and organizing evidence.
Which framework should we start with?
Start with the one your customers, contracts or regulators require. Defense suppliers usually begin with NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC, healthcare organizations with the HIPAA Security Rule, and software firms often with SOC 2. NIST CSF 2.0 works well as a general structure when no single requirement drives the work.
What does a risk assessment include?
We review your assets, access controls, configurations, logging and response processes against the chosen framework, and test for technical weaknesses where scope allows. You receive findings ranked by risk, with remediation steps and owners.
Can you fix what you find?
Yes. We can implement identity, endpoint, monitoring and pipeline controls ourselves, or advise your team and verify the result. We can also place security engineers to carry the work on.
Do you provide 24/7 managed detection?
Our focus is assessment, engineering and staffing, including SOC analysts placed in your team. If you need round-the-clock monitoring, we will advise on options and can help set up the tooling and runbooks.
Know where you stand before someone else tells you
Describe your environment and the framework or customer requirement driving the work. A Desmata security lead will reply with the scope we would recommend.
